本刊是由卫生部主管、中华医院管理学会主办的国家级重点学术期刊，血液净化学专业学术核心期刊（月刊），以国内外血液净化学者、医师、护士以及血液净化产品工程技术、管理人员为主要读者对象，报道血液净化领域领先的科研成果和临床诊疗经验。办刊宗旨是：求真务实，开拓创新，面向临床应用及其相关领域的基础研究，力求及时，准确地反应我国血液净化水平，介绍新技术，新方法，新成果，促进学术交流，提高血液净化专业理论及技术水平。

The US ESRD program-can we get the genie back in the bottle?

摘要：In 1984 Sugimoto and Rosansky reported on end stage renal disease (ESRD)treatment rates for the Eastern US in AJPH[1].This was the first publication of comparative ESRD treatment rates by race,sex,and age for a sample of the US dialysis population.The US ESRD treatment program was the first,and is the only,government-funded program for a defined disease group.In 1972,funding for ESRD was provided as an amendment to social security legislation.Annually collected new dialysis and transplant patients (ESRD treatment incidence)were initially collected by the Health Care Financing Administration in their medical information system.Data reporting was improved in 1988 with the creation of the US renal data system (USRDS)that reports data on ESRD and chronic kidney disease (CKD)patients.The current report updates and examines the trends in the US ESRD treatment incidence since 1979.We describe the explosive and unplanned growth of this program and project future trends in the US and international ESRD treatment populations.
